A message from Head Coach Kelsey

Dear Badger Fan-

Greetings from Wisconsin women’s basketball! It is with great excitement that I send you this letter today. Having been named the sixth head women’s basketball coach was very exciting and fulfilled my dream of leading my own program. With that being said, I cannot think of a better place to begin my career than Wisconsin.

After being named the Badgers’ head coach, my first task was to meet with the current players. After our meeting, I was truly impressed with their level of excitement and enthusiasm in accepting me as their new coach and the challenge of turning this program into a national contender. My overall goal in this meeting was to ensure that the players understood my philosophy and the level of excellence expected of them specifically in the areas of academics and athletics. They also impressed me with their work ethic and attitude in the few on-court individual workouts we were able to complete before the school term ended.

I was also able to visit with the incoming freshmen and their parents at their homes. These young women were quite nervous because of the uncertainly with the coaching change. We were able to talk and calm any apprehension they had about the situation. Each one is in love with Wisconsin and this program which allows me to be excited about them going forward. I wanted to convey to them and their parents that I view them as my players, my recruits, and we will care for them as if I recruited them myself.

My next order of business was hiring my staff. Having coached for the past 14 years, I have met and worked with some very experienced coaches therefore I had some fabulous people to choose from. Kyle, Stacy, Alysiah and Jill will do an excellent job in assisting me with rebuilding the Badger program. Now that everyone is here and working in the office, we are getting things organized to turn this program into what it should, could, and will be – a championship program. Once you meet them, you will really enjoy the energy, passion and excitement these coaches exhibit in helping me to accomplish this task.

Recruiting has been going well. Our focus right now is to reach out to players and coaches, especially in the state of Wisconsin. Thus far, we have been well received by the coaches and players, which will benefit our program as we re-establish these important relationships here in Wisconsin and in the Midwest region.

It is our desire to create strong ties to players and coaches here at home. We want to make sure that the best players in state come to UW! We also plan on recruiting the Midwest region hard. We’re in basketball country with some of the best players in the country right in our own backyard.

I have also been busy meeting with university faculty and staff, alumni, and community members. It is my hope to convey to the fans and supporters in the Madison community how much we appreciate the support they have shown throughout the years. We will not overlook our most important asset – you the fan – as we move forward. It is vital that you realize how critical you are to our success.

This leads me to another important component to our success and that is community service. Our program will be involved with the community – not just the university community but the Madison community as a whole. We especially enjoy working with children because so many of them look up to us and our players. We want to make sure we are accessible to our youngest fans.

Even though I am originally from the great state of Georgia, Madison is already feeling like home. I am looking to buy a house and everything I’ve seen about the city has been wonderful. I still need to buy my Cheesehead though!

Camps are coming up and we are reaching out to schools and also looking to get some of our top players on campus for our College Experience Camp. The month of July will be spent on the road as it’s a big evaluation time for high school players.

All of the players, including the incoming freshmen, will be on campus this summer for summer school and work outs. They are all very excited, especially the freshmen! Almost as thrilled as my staff and I are to spend time with them and get to know them as people.

I hope you will come out and support us in 2011-12. It is a new era for Wisconsin women’s basketball! We want to revive, regenerate and refresh the Kohl Center with the type of excitement and energy that is the envy of the Big Ten Conference as well as the nation. We are going to mix it up and give you a reason to come out to the Kohl Center to support the team. We hope you will be there to cheer us on!

Single Game Tickets

Individual game tickets go on sale October 10. Reserved seats are available for $7 for all ages until the day of the game. Reserved seats are not sold on the day of the game. General admission tickets are available for advance purchase. Adult general admission tickets are available for $7. Youth and senior citizen general admission tickets are available for $3.

In what sections of the Kohl Center can I purchase a reserved season ticket?

Reserved season tickets are available in sections 107-109 and 121-123 at a cost of $85 per season ticket regardless of age. Reserved seats do not require a gift to the Wisconsin Athletics; however, donations still count toward your annual giving level and priority point total and will be taken into consideration when evaluating a request for seat improvement or change.

In what sections of the Kohl Center may I sit in with a general admission season ticket?

General admission season ticket holders are not tied to a specific location, as they may choose to sit in any general admission section. General admission season ticket holders may NOT sit in any reserved season ticket sections (107-109 and 121-123).

I am a current season ticket holder, how do I request a seat location change?

Keep the following points in mind if you wish to request a seat improvement:

Changes are based on availability, annual giving level and then descending priority points order within each giving level.
The number of years requesting seat changes does not factor into the request process and requests are not carried over from the previous year.

Each request is reviewed by the Athletic Department, but the volume of requests may not make personal consultation feasible. Decisions are based on the best judgment of the Athletic Department. The Athletic Department reserves the right to change any seat assignment without prior notice, thus there are no guarantees.

I am a current season ticket holder, how do I request additional season tickets?

If you would like to request additional season tickets, please indicate this in the comments box located adjacent to your season ticket line when ordering online. If you are not ordering online, please write this request on your order form and include payment. Seats are currently available, though additional seats will most likely not be adjacent to your current season tickets. If you would like both your additional and current seats to be together, and are willing to re-locate your seats to do so, please indicate that desire when ordering your season tickets.

How do I go about changing my mailing address associated with my season ticket account?

It is the patron’s responsibility to inform the Wisconsin Athletic Ticket Office of any changes in your address by September 16. Address changes should be submitted on the season order form, in a separate letter, or online at UWBadgers.com.

When will my tickets and parking be mailed?

Season tickets and parking will be mailed approximately October 5 via first class mail. Single game and package tickets will be mailed no later than seven days prior to the game via first class mail.

How do I request a change in my parking assignment?

Current permit holders should accept their current parking assignment or make a request for a lot change on their season ticket application. All parking requests will be filled first based on annual giving level and then priority points within each giving level.

How do I request a new or an additional parking permit?

Advance sale parking is only available on a season basis. Season ticket holders who would like to purchase a new or an additional season parking permit may make that request on their season ticket application. All parking requests will be filled first based on annual giving level and then priority points within each giving level.

What options are available for single game parking?

Single game parking is available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. This policy is in place only from the attendants at lots with availability. Lots will be determined once season parking assignments have been completed, just prior to the start of the season.

Early Signing Period

Beginning today, existing and new Wisconsin women’s basketball season ticket holders will have the opportunity to win some terrific prizes. As part of the Wisconsin Women’s Basketball Early Signing Period, existing and new season ticket holders who order their season tickets online between July 13 and July 29 will be entered into a random prize drawing. Plus, ALL women’s basketball season ticket holders who order their tickets online during the early signing period will have their processing fee waived…that’s a savings of $10! Act fast. Prizes are available to existing and new season ticket holders. To be eligible, an online season ticket order is required during the signing period. The dinner with Coach Kelsey will take place on a mutually agreeable date and time at one of the Great Dane locations in the greater-Madison area. The use of a suite for a women’s basketball game during the 2011-12 season will be assigned at the discretion of Wisconsin Athletics. The suite package will include: 12 game tickets, 3 parking passes, and food and non-alcoholic beverages. Team autographed balls will be mailed in September. Due to NCAA rules and regulations, those of high school age are not allowed to receive any prizes. All prizes will be awarded in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations. No exchanges permitted. Prizes are subject to change at the discretion of Wisconsin Athletics.
